ETRv4: Save feature + Room 22 update
Escape the Room v4 has launched.
The game now has a fully functioning save feature as requested by many players.
This is paired with a few small bug fixes.
In celebration, here's an HD background of the "hangman" room.
Now onto the worrying thing, Room22.
I went in depth a bit in my previous devlog on room 22.
I managed to crack into it successfully through a software loophole. By removing the drive and installing it into a friend's unix based system, we were able to bypass most of the Windows-based security measures. I then moved room22 to a thumb drive so I could investigate it safely.
The only thing I've been able to find so far is the backgrounds. Room 22 has 2 apparent backgrounds:
The first of which, entitled "Novel.png" was a background for a planned level that was never implemented.
The second image was perplexing. Another cut background; However, this one was never imported into the game. Also in my backgrounds folder where it was initially saved, it was entitled "Monsterroom.png".
In the room22 drive, it was named "dumb1.png"
I don't really know what all this means. I'm assuming room22 is similar to those notepad documents that continuously open your disk-tray or something.
Whenever I look into this I get jumpy. I keep looking at my doorway expecting something to be there. I feel a presence.
There's no reason to investigate further, room22 hasn't interfered with any of ETR's patches, and I'm probably not going to work on it again after moving onto the next project.
It's still on the thumb drive, so I guess I'll just leave it alone for now.
